Beetroot-red leather sets the tone at Tjoget, the renowned Stockholm cocktail bar. Discover how Arrhov Frick and Fogia used colour and materiality to create an expressive, unforgettable interior.

Choosing the right colours and materials can define an entire space, and Arrhov Frick architects, in collaboration with Swedish furniture maker Fogia, have achieved exactly that at Tjoget. A renowned cocktail bar and restaurant in Stockholm’s Hornstull where colour isn’t merely decorative, it’s identity.

“When you furnish a space that needs to both stand out visually and withstand intense everyday use, leather is an obvious choice. It ages beautifully, acquiring a genuine patina, while being both durable and practical.”

Take, for example, the custom-made Bollo armchair by Andreas Engesvik, upholstered in striking beetroot-red Elmo leather. This bold hue was carefully selected to reflect Tjoget’s signature cocktail, “Beets by Tjoget,” a tasty blend of vodka, beetroot, ginger, lemon, and coconut. The eye-catching design instantly draws attention and has become a distinctive, memorable feature of the bar’s interior.

“We chose to upholster the Bollo chairs in leather from Elmo because it was simply the only place we could find the exact shade of red we were looking for,” explains Karin Pettersson at Fogia. “When you furnish a space that needs to both stand out visually and withstand intense everyday use, leather is an obvious choice. Together with architects Arrhov Frick, Tjoget’s interior embraces both the lively personality of the space and the expressive potential of natural leather. Alongside Bollo, Fogia’s Tripot series, Myko Chair, and Figurine Stool harmoniously complement Tjoget’s industrial vibe, adding layers of tactility, warmth, and depth.
