StickerApp Circular Leather Creativity at its Finest

Transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary is something we always encourage at Elmo, especially when it comes to circularity. Step into the world of StickerApp, a young tech company adapting their new office and factory space into something natural and close to the senses with the help of Elmo’s leather.

StickerApp, a tech company that handles manufacturing, printing, phone cases and app development dreamed of a fresh new combined office, factory and playground space in Lomma, Sweden. Head architect, Johan Sundberg with over twenty years of experience in creating exceptionally beautiful and inviting architecture, explains: “In our practise we aim to create breadth and depth, using raw materials and elements that may seem rough. We’d rather do this because it works better in the long run. We want to awaken the entire emotional spectrum when it comes to architecture.”

A kitchen

StickerApp’s factory now consists of a library, an advertising studio, conference rooms, offices, a large cafeteria in the entrance area, and a big restaurant kitchen. Swedese, a classic Swedish furniture company known for its elegant designs, custom-made all the furniture for the new office interior.

Based on Sundberg’s vision of utilizing materials that might seem unrefined or coarse, Swedese worked closely with Elmo to distribute and be the main provider with the purpose of using previously discarded leather for the furniture in the cafeteria. The interior design introduces a fresh perspective on the use of leather hides by cherishing their distinctive beauty marks. Elmo and Swedese opted for the use of a recycled leather called ’Vegeta’, a material that isn’t even in stock, as a deliberate sustainability statement.

Beauty marks are the future of ethical design

Once discarded hides became the canvas for creativity and interior design in this project, carried out by Hedvig Sönnerstedt, Nordic Key Account Manager at Elmo. She says: “Valuing these hides as first-grade materials enhances the product’s character and affordability. We dare to showcase natural features, turning imperfections into a statement of sustainability.”

StickerApp is a labor of love, where every detail is thoughtfully considered. “It’s essential in an industrial environment that the human soul is connected to natural materials, close to the body and the senses therefore leather plays a significant part in creating warmth, comfort, and a tangible connection to the surroundings,” says Sundberg.

The result is a beautifully crafted dining room with benches that have been custom-made with Swedish raw materials in leather and in wood, both traceable and sustainable. The tables are long, constructed from soft wood, in a light beige color. Every table has four benches with leather seating in a slightly darker hue. The kitchen area is a relaxed open space which compliments the room’s color scheme with its gray, neutral tones. The process has been carried out with great heart, devotion, and the vision to build something that will stand the test of time, by actively choosing sustainability in a holistic point of view, while not compromising on the principles of high-end quality.

“Choosing materials we don’t usually stock or sell gives people the opportunity to buy a fantastic product, instilling pride and ownership in their surroundings. It also puts less restraint on our natural resources, and the price tag decreases significantl. With this initiative, and the fusion of the architect’s vision with the latent potential of leather hides adorned with unique beauty marks, we unleash a captivating narrative that paves the way for the future of ethical design,” says Sönnerstedt.
