For more than three decades, the Madrid-based studio Stone Designs has collaborated with international brands across furniture, lighting and product design. Founded by Cutu Mazuelos and Eva Prego, the studio has built a reputation for creating objects with character — pieces that are approachable, playful and designed to connect with people on an emotional level.

Their philosophy is simple.
“We try to create honest, friendly objects that connect with people. Design should bring a bit of joy to everyday life.”
Materials, colour and character are central to this approach. Rather than designing objects that simply occupy space, Stone Designs focuses on pieces that invite interaction and create an emotional connection.
Their relationship with Elmo Leather goes back several years, through collaborations with Scandinavian brands including Blå Station. It was during these projects that the studio first began working closely with Elmo’s leather.
“The quality of the leather and the chromatic range are what we value most. It’s a very beautiful, natural material, and the palette of colours allows designers to work in a very expressive way.”

These qualities found a natural home in the Globb series by Actiu, recently showcased at Elmo’s Madrid showroom during a workshop held in connection with Madrid Design Festival. The collection is defined by soft, rounded forms that give the pieces a warm and welcoming presence.
“The idea behind Globb was to design pieces with soft shapes that feel friendly and comfortable — furniture that feels approachable and warm.”
Introducing Elmo leather adds another layer to the collection. The material enhances the tactile experience of the pieces while bringing depth and richness to their surfaces. Combined with the wide colour palette, the leather reinforces the playful identity of the Globb series, allowing each piece to take on its own distinct personality.
